| Reverse description | A full-color reproduction of the symbolic painting The Offering by Lithuanian artist Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (c. 1909) fills the square field, rendered within a raised rectangular frame imitating a picture border. The composition depicts a luminous winged angel figure standing atop an elevated altar-like platform, holding a long staff or incense burner from which a radiant stream of light ascends diagonally toward the upper right. Below the platform, a star-studded nocturnal zone transitions to a forest of tall Gothic spire-like forms in warm ochre and rust tones, while dramatically swirling dark clouds and a golden luminous sky fill the upper field, conveying the mystical Symbolist aesthetic characteristic of Čiurlionis. |
