| Obverse description | Uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in high relief in the style introduced for Canadian coinage. The portrait, engraved by Steven Rosati, presents the King in contemporary dress with a suit and tie. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the left periphery and D·G·REX along the right, all within a beaded inner border. The engraver's initials SR appear in small relief below the truncation of the bust. |
