| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely detailed full-length effigy of the Statue of Liberty, depicted standing erect upon her multi-tiered pedestal and base, rendered in high sculptural relief against a mirror-polished field. Liberty raises her right arm aloft bearing a flaming torch, while her left arm cradles a tablet inscribed with the Roman numeral date 'JULY IV MDCCLXXVI', referencing the American Declaration of Independence of 4 July 1776. Her figure is draped in classical robes with a radiate crown upon her head, and radiating sun rays are engraved in the background field emanating from the upper portion of the design. A circular suspension loop is pierced through the upper edge of the pendant. |
