Additional information

Niue has operated as a prolific licensing vehicle for novelty bullion since the 1990s, selling its monetary authority to mint operators — primarily the Perth Mint — who produce collector pieces with no meaningful circulation role. This "Baby Sugar Glider" belongs to a long-running fauna series that uses Australian wildlife as commercial content, dressed in Charles III's effigy following the standard Commonwealth coinage update after Elizabeth II's death in September 2022.

The accession coinage transition required all Commonwealth realms to update royal portrait dies. Niue's collector output was among the fastest to incorporate the new effigy.
