Obverse description Uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in the first official Australian portrait by engraver David Thorpe. The king is depicted in a contemporary draped bust style, with fine detail in the hair and collar. The legend CHARLES III arcs across the upper left field, AUSTRALIA descends along the right, and the denomination 1 DOLLAR appears along the lower rim, flanked by two raised dots. The designer's initials DT appear at the base of the bust truncation.

Reverse description The reverse features a richly coloured design in the tradition of Australian Aboriginal art, depicting Ngana Nyitting (Blue River) as conceived by the artist KB. A sweeping blue river rendered in flowing wavy lines and concentric circle motifs occupies the upper portion of the field, highlighted with selective colour application in shades of blue. The central field displays an elaborate arrangement of concentric rings, spirals, dotwork, and interlocking curvilinear forms in blue and grey tones against the gold aluminium-bronze ground, with accents of green in the lower register suggesting vegetation. The Perth Mint mintmark P appears at the upper left, the date 2025 is inscribed at the top of the field, and the artist's initials KB are found at the lower right.
