| Additional information |
The "Four Plush Kangaroos" dollar is part of the Royal Australian Mint's ongoing colored circulation-quality program, which has periodically inserted novelty reverses into the standard dollar format since the 1980s. Charles III's effigy appearing here reflects the portrait transition that followed the death of Elizabeth II in September 2022 — Australian coinage had carried her image for seventy years, longer than any other monarch on the dollar series.
