Released in 2024 as part of the Royal Australian Mint's ongoing coloured circulation-strike program, this issue ties to the animated series Bluey — a Brisbane-set production that became, by some measures, the most-watched children's program in Australian television history and achieved substantial cultural penetration in the United States market. The Mint has increasingly used the dollar coin format for licensed pop-culture issues aimed at the collector and novelty market rather than general circulation, with pad-printed colour applied post-strike to the aluminium bronze planchet.
