Additional information

The Royal Australian Mint introduced this issue to mark the Australian Citizenship ceremony — a program that has existed in its current formal structure since the Australian Citizenship Act of 1948, which for the first time defined a distinct Australian nationality separate from British subject status. The coin entered circulation in 2025 carrying Charles III's first portrait for Australian coinage, as approved following the accession protocols established after Elizabeth II's death in September 2022.
