New Zealand's Avatar licensing program has produced a string of collector issues tied to the film franchise, this piece commemorating the 2022 sequel more than two years after the original film's 2009 release. The Tulkan — an aquatic Na'vi subgroup introduced in The Way of Water — gave the series a new mint hook. Charles III's first portrait, sculpted by Martin Jennings and adopted across Commonwealth realms following Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, appears here in one of its earliest New Zealand applications.
