Reverse description A kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) is depicted perched on a gnarled branch, rendered in fine detail with gilded highlights accentuating its plumage against an antiqued silver field featuring a sunburst or radiant background pattern. The legend KOOKABURRA arcs prominently within the design, accompanied by the inscription 35TH ANNIVERSARY commemorating three and a half decades of the Australian Kookaburra bullion series. Additional inscriptions denote the date 2025, the weight and fineness 1oz 9999 SILVER, and the Perth Mint's P mint mark, along with the SR privy mark.

Additional information

The Kookaburra series, running since 1990, changes its reverse design annually — a deliberate policy that drove secondary market demand from the outset and distinguished it from the Kangaroo and Koala bullion programs. The antiquing process used here is applied chemically after striking, selectively darkening recessed areas before targeted gold plating highlights the raised surfaces. Perth applies this finish using precision masking rather than full immersion, which accounts for the clean delineation between the two treatments.
