| Obverse description | The obverse features a frontal view of the Bartholdi Fountain Building, the main conservatory of the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C., rendered in fine detail with arched windows and a central dome. The inscription LIBERTY arcs across the upper field, while ONE DOLLAR and the date 1997 appear in the lower central field. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed in small letters below the date, accompanied by the Philadelphia mint mark P. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curves along the lower rim. The design is executed in the neoclassical architectural style characteristic of commemorative coinage of this series. |
