Obverse description The upper centre of the note carries a large allegorical vignette of Lady Liberty enthroned, accompanied by an eagle to her right and flanked by decorative foliate urns, with a landscape in the background. To the lower left and lower right are portrait vignettes of unidentified male figures within oval frames, while octagonal counter panels bearing the numeral 1 appear at the upper left and upper right corners. The lower centre zone is occupied by a bold lathe-work panel with the denomination ONE DOLLAR in large letters.
