Reverse description Printed entirely in green, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate engine-turned guilloche pattern forming a large central cartouche. Within the cartouche, the legend 'THE CANADIAN BANK OF COMMERCE' is set in bold serif lettering flanking the large numeral '1' counter. The outer border consists of interlocking lathe-work rosettes and scalloped frames, creating a richly ornate protective design typical of mid-19th century North American bank note engraving.
