Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic religious and titular legend arranged in horizontal registers, executed in angular Kufic script. The inscription names the Buyid ruler Sharaf al-Dawla Abu'l-Fawaris with honorific titles. The central text is enclosed within a single circular border, itself surrounded by a marginal legend in Kufic script running along the full circumference of the coin. The outer rim features a stylized geometric or dotted border typical of Buyid hammered silver coinage. The overall die-work is characteristic of late 10th-century Fars provincial mint production.
