Reverse description The reverse features a central composition depicting an offshore oil drilling platform alongside the ADMA ENTERPRISE tanker vessel, rendered in detailed relief against a plain field. Above the central design, a stylized rising sun with radiating rays arcs along the upper portion of the coin. Prominently displayed above the platform is the large numeral '50' with the date span '1962-2012' immediately below it, commemorating the anniversary. To the left of the central design, the legend 'ADMA' appears in Latin script, with its Arabic equivalent 'أدما' to the right. Along the lower periphery, a bilingual inscription in Arabic and English reads 'الذكرى الخمسون للشحنة الأولى من النفط' and 'THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST SHIPMENT OF OIL'.

Additional information

The UAE's first offshore oil shipment left Das Island in 1962, a date that effectively set the political and economic trajectory of what would become the federation a decade later. Abu Dhabi Marine Areas Ltd. — a consortium involving British Petroleum and Compagnie Française des Pétroles — oversaw that initial export, and the revenue it generated gave Sheikh Shakhbut bin Sultan the first real leverage to modernize, though he famously distrusted banks and reportedly kept cash under his palace floor.

Khalifa bin Zayed, as the reigning president at the time of this issue, lent his name to a commemorative that sits firmly in the UAE's long tradition of marking petroleum milestones with circulation-format coins rather than collector-only strikes.
