| Obverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Arabic Kufic inscription arranged in four or five horizontal lines within a single beaded inner circle. The central legend contains the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) and additional religious formulae, rendered in the angular Kufic script typical of Qarakhanid coinage. An outer marginal legend in Arabic Kufic script runs along the inner border of the coin, partly encircling the central inscription zone. The flan is irregular and slightly cracked at the edges, consistent with hammered silver production of the early 11th century. |
