Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic religious legend arranged in horizontal lines, typical of Abbasid-influenced Idrisid coinage, with the Shahada or related pious formulae. The marginal legend encircles the central inscription within a circular border of dots or linear segments, partially struck on the irregular flan. The hammered silver surface shows characteristic die wear and an off-center strike consistent with ninth-century Maghrebi mint production. The name of the Idrisid amir Hamza b. Ali appears within the field inscription.
