| Reverse description | Square flan bearing a three-line Kufic Arabic inscription in raised relief, filling the central field. The legend reads: 'Allah is our Lord / Muhammad is our Prophet / al-Mahdi is our Imam,' reflecting the Almohad-Hafsid dynastic religious formula invoking the authority of the Mahdi. The bold, angular Kufic script is arranged in three registers and displays the characteristic style of Maghrebi hammered silver coinage. The flan edges are irregular, consistent with the hand-struck production technique. |
