Obverse description Central field bearing multiple horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic script containing the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) and the name of the Abbasid caliph. The inscriptions are arranged within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a marginal legend in Arabic script running along the outer border of the flan.
