Reverse description A schematic armillary sphere occupies the central field, rendered in a crude cast style with an ecliptic band crossing diagonally above three horizontal parallel lines descending from right to left, representing the celestial equator and tropics. Raised dots are positioned at the equatorial band and at the polar extremities of the sphere. The design is highly stylized and typical of the debased colonial cast coinage produced for trade circulation in Portuguese Malacca during the sixteenth century.
