A bilingual circular legend surrounds the portrait, with the Latin inscription HABIB BOURGUIBA and PRESIDENT DE LA REP. TUNISIENNE arcing across the lower portion, paralleled by the Arabic equivalent رئيس الجمهورية التونسية and الحبيب برقيبة. The date 1979 appears in the exergue beneath the effigy. |
