Reverse description The reverse displays a central field divided into multiple horizontal registers of Kufic Arabic script, bearing religious formulae and the name of the Abbasid caliph alongside the Aghlabid amir Muhammad I. A circular marginal legend in Kufic script runs along the inner border, with a surrounding dotted or pellet border defining the outer rim. The inscriptions follow the Abbasid epigraphic dinar tradition established since the reform of Abd al-Malik, with no figurative imagery. The overall composition reflects the strictly aniconic character of Islamic gold coinage of this period.
