Obverse description Full-length effigy of King Kanishka I standing to left, clad in heavy Kushan royal garments including a belted tunic, trousers, and boots, his right hand extended over a sacrificial altar from which flames rise, his left hand resting on a long trident-topped sceptre. The king wears a distinctive flame-haloed crown. A circular Bactrian legend in Greek-derived script surrounds the central field.
