Obverse description Central field contains a multi-line Arabic religious inscription arranged in four horizontal lines within a plain inner circle, with a pellet above the uppermost line. The inscription is executed in Kufic script in the pseudo-Abbasid tradition, invoking the Islamic profession of faith. A circular Arabic legend in Kufic script surrounds the central field within a beaded border. The entire design follows the epigraphic convention established by Abbasid coinage, with no figural elements. The flan is irregularly shaped, characteristic of hammered gold dinars of the period.
