Obverse description Hammered gold dinar of irregular round flan with no figurative imagery, following the purely epigraphic tradition of Islamic coinage. The central field bears three horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic script comprising the shahada and the regnal name al-Muqtadir billah, arranged within a plain inner circle. An inner marginal legend carries the Prophetic mission formula, while the outer marginal band, separated by a beaded border, records the mint name Sana'a and the date 306 AH in the basmala-prefixed mint formula. The die engraving is bold and deeply struck, typical of early fourth-century AH Yemeni provincial gold coinage imitating the Abbasid metropolitan type.
