| Obverse description | Central field contains multiple horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic religious inscription arranged concentrically within a plain inner circle. The Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) and the name of the ruling authority are rendered in angular Kufic script. A circular marginal legend in Arabic script runs within the outer border, separated from the central text by a plain ring. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, typical of hammered gold dinars of the early medieval Islamic period. |
