Obverse description The obverse is dominated by an intricate arabesque guilloche underprint in shades of blue, with the Central Bank of Libya headquarters vignette occupying the right half against a fine geometric background. To the left, a transparent polymer window in a star-burst frame contains a portrait of Omar Mukhtar, with the numeral "1" in dark blue below. Arabic calligraphic inscriptions and a governor's signature appear across the centre field.

Reverse description The reverse carries two principal vignettes set against a light blue guilloche ground: at centre-left, the industrial complex of the Brega oil refinery with its towers and pipework rendered in dark blue intaglio-style engraving, and at centre-right the Roman Arch of Marcus Aurelius in Tripoli. A second transparent polymer window at the right edge repeats the Omar Mukhtar portrait motif. The denomination "One Dinar" appears in English within a decorative cartouche at lower left, with "CENTRAL BANK OF LIBYA" in Latin script across the top.
