Obverse description Full-length standing figure of King Christian IV facing slightly to the right, crowned with a closed royal crown and attired in elaborate period armour with a ruffled collar, puffed breeches, and knee-high boots. The king holds a sceptre in his right hand and rests his left hand on his hip. The effigy is rendered in a bold, somewhat naïve hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Danish coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the central design, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery between two beaded borders.
