| Obverse description | Central field bears a small cross enclosed within a raised inner circle, itself surrounded by a beaded or pellet border. The surrounding annular legend, struck in Latin capitals, reads ✠ • FRA • DA • DVX •, referencing Doge Francesco Dandolo. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, typical of hammered medieval Venetian billon coinage. The overall design is characteristically simple and abstract, consistent with the denaro piccolo series of the Republic. |
