Reverse description An eagle displayed with head turned sinister (left) is depicted at the centre of the flan, its outstretched wings breaking through the inner beaded circle in a bold, dynamic manner typical of Aquileian coinage. The bird is rendered in a stylised medieval fashion with spread talons visible below. A floral ornament precedes the legend, which is divided by pellets into four segments around the eagle within the outer beaded border. The inscription identifies the mint city of Aquileia in uncial lettering.
