Obverse description Standing figure of the Doge in full ducal robes, facing front, holding a long staff or banner in his right hand, with mintmaster initials flanking the figure at left (PB) and right (VO) in the field. The effigy is rendered in the characteristic Venetian Gothic style typical of late 15th-century hammered coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, reading . AVG • BARBADICO • DVX • VO, identifying Doge Agostino Barbarigo and the mint authority. The flan is irregular in outline, as is characteristic of hand-struck billon denari of this period.
