Obverse description Hammered copper flan of irregular round form bearing Arabic legends in the field, struck in a bold but somewhat crude style characteristic of Mughal provincial coinage. The obverse carries the royal titles and name of Emperor Akbar in Arabic script, disposed across the coin field in multiple lines. The legends are deeply struck though uneven, reflecting the hand-hammered production technique of the Lahore mint. Patination is heavy with reddish-brown surfaces and traces of green copper corrosion visible in the fields.

Reverse description The reverse bears a multi-line Arabic inscription occupying the central field, recording the AH regnal date. The numeral ۹۸۷ (AH 987, corresponding to 1579 CE) appears prominently in Eastern Arabic numerals. The legend is arranged in typical Mughal Dam fashion, with the mint name Lahore and the Hijri date distributed across the field. The flan is irregular and the strike is characteristically off-centre, consistent with hammered Mughal copper coinage of the period.
