| Obverse description | At centre, a fully armoured knight standing three-quarters to the right, his right hand grasping an upright sword and his left hand holding a bundle of arrows, emblematic of the seven united provinces; below him, an escutcheon bearing the rampant lion of Zeeland. The surrounding legend in Latin reads MO ARG PRO CONFΠBELG ZEL, punctuated by the Middelburg mint mark (rook/castle symbol). The design is enclosed within a finely milled border characteristic of the piedfort striking technique, with the deeply incused relief reflecting the double-thickness flan. |
