Obverse description At centre, a fully armoured knight standing three-quarters to the right, his right hand grasping an upright sword and his left hand holding a bundle of arrows, emblematic of the seven united provinces; below him, an escutcheon bearing the rampant lion of Zeeland. The surrounding legend in Latin reads MO ARG PRO CONFΠBELG ZEL, punctuated by the Middelburg mint mark (rook/castle symbol). The design is enclosed within a finely milled border characteristic of the piedfort striking technique, with the deeply incused relief reflecting the double-thickness flan.

Reverse description At centre, within a plain inner circle, the rampant crowned lion of the Dutch Republic is depicted passant-rampant to the left, holding a sword aloft in its right forepaw and a bundle of seven arrows in its left, rendered in bold high relief consistent with a piedfort strike. The surrounding exergual legend, separated by pellet stops, reads CONFIDENS · DNO · NON · MOVETVR · 1680 ·, the date appearing at the top of the legend field. The entire composition is framed by a prominent milled border, and the deeply struck field displays the characteristic flatness of a double-weight piedfort flan.
