Obverse description Bareheaded, armored effigy of Herman Diederik facing right, with left hand resting on sword hilt. The four-digit date 1577 is divided by the figure on either side. The legend is inscribed in Latin between two pearled circles encircling the central design, rendered in the hammered style characteristic of late sixteenth-century Low Countries coinage.

Reverse description Heraldic shield displaying a composite, upright coat of arms surmounted by two helmets with elaborate lambrequins. The numerical denomination is divided by the shield on either side. The surrounding legend is inscribed in Latin between pearled borders, typical of the hammered coinage of the Dutch States period, presenting a formal dynastic display consonant with the lordly pretensions of the Barony of Batenburg.
