| Reverse description | Central field depicts a fully armoured knight on horseback prancing to the right, raising a sword in his right hand and carrying a banner or lance, rendered in vigorous relief characteristic of hammered coinage of the period. Beneath the horse, a shield bearing the quartered arms of Gelderland is displayed. The surrounding field is plain, and a beaded inner border frames the design. A circular Latin legend in the outer border reads DEVS CONSTITVIT REGNA, meaning 'God has established kingdoms.' The overall composition follows the standard Burgundian-Netherlandish ruiterdaalder type. |
