Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King William IV facing right, modelled in high relief with finely detailed naturalistic hair, engraved by William Wyon. The truncation of the bust is plain, with engraver's initials appearing on certain varieties. The Latin royal legend is disposed around the periphery, separated by colons and punctuated in the customary abbreviated form. A fine toothed border encircles the entire design.
