Obverse description Central field dominated by a voided ornate floriated cross with elaborate Gothic detailing. The date appears at the top of the cross, divided by the mint mark (fleur-de-lis). The peripheral legend in Latin runs along the coin's border, separated by pellets or stops. The overall design reflects the characteristic hammered workmanship of Southern Netherlandish coinage of the mid-seventeenth century.
