| Obverse description | Facing bust effigy of Emperor Haile Selassie I in high relief, slightly turned to the left, occupying the central field. The Latin legend surrounding the upper portion of the field reads H.I.M. HAILE SELASSIE I EMPEROR OF ETHIOPIA with the date 19 67 flanking the bust, and a Ge'ez inscription arcing across the lower field. The piece is bordered by a beaded rim. |

| Reverse description | The full imperial arms of Ethiopia displayed in high relief: a central shield bearing the Star of David and cross, supported by two lions couchant, flanked by two angel supporters, one holding scales of justice and the other a sword. Above the shield an open book with crossed swords, surmounted by an imperial crown topped with a cross, all beneath a draped mantle. Olive branches appear in the upper field on either side of the mantle. The crowned Lion of Judah passant with a cross-topped staff is depicted below the shield, and a Ge'ez legend appears in the lower exergue. The piece is bordered by a beaded rim. |
