| Obverse description | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George V, modelled by Sir Bertram Mackennal, rendered with fine naturalistic detail including a short beard and neatly dressed hair. The truncation of the neck falls cleanly at the lower field. A continuous Latin legend in raised capital letters runs clockwise around the periphery, separated from the effigy by a fine inner border of closely spaced beads. The portrait is executed in high relief, characteristic of Mackennal's refined medallic style. |
