Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King George V with a neatly trimmed beard, rendered in high relief with exceptional sculptural detail by engraver Edgar Bertram MacKennal, whose initials 'BM' appear below the truncation. The portrait occupies the central field, conveying a commanding, naturalistic likeness characteristic of MacKennal's refined medallic style. The circumferential Latin legend reads GEORGIVS V · DG · BRITT · OMN · REX · FD · IND · IMP · (George the Fifth, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India), separated by raised dots. The coin is struck in 22-carat gold with deeply mirrored proof fields, enhancing the contrast between the raised devices and the polished background.
