Obverse description Youthful laureate and draped effigy of King George II facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing hair adorned with a laurel wreath. The truncation is decorated with an ornamental lion mask, a hallmark of John Croker's engraving style. The king's neck and shoulders are draped in classical fashion, lending the portrait an antique imperial quality. The Latin legend runs continuously around the periphery of the field, separated from the effigy by the coin's smooth inner rim.
