| Additional information |
Part of Gibraltar's extensive commemorative crown program marking the WWI centenary, this issue honors the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Naval Air Service — the two British air arms that merged in April 1918 to form the RAF. Gibraltar has issued commemoratives prolifically since the 1970s, and the WWI centenary series ran across multiple years with subjects ranging from individual battles to specific service branches.
Copper-nickel crowns of this type saw virtually no circulation; they were struck for the collector market from the outset.
