| Additional information |
Nightingale Island is an uninhabited dependency of Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic, roughly 2,400 kilometers from the nearest continental landmass. It issues coins as a revenue mechanism — the island has no resident population to spend them, and no monetary infrastructure of any kind. The 2005 VE Day crown was produced for the collector market, timed to the 60th anniversary commemorations held in London that May.
