| Obverse description | Triangular flan with a mirror-polished proof finish. At centre, the fourth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, a right-facing diademed and draped bust engraved by Ian Rank-Broadley, set within a raised circular border. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs above and ISLE OF MAN curves to the right, with the date 2008 positioned at lower right, all within the circular cartouche. The entire triangular field surrounding the central portrait is densely decorated with incuse ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic panels arranged in registers, evoking the walls of a pharaonic tomb. Along the lower edge, the Latin letters ANKH appear at lower left and AMUN at lower right, while hieroglyphic cartouches spelling TUT are prominently displayed at the apex. |
