| Obverse description | The triangular flan features an elaborate field decorated with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic motifs. At centre, within a raised circular border, appears the right-facing draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the George IV State Diadem, as engraved by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear on the truncation. The circular legend around the effigy reads ELIZABETH II ISLE OF MAN 2008. The three corners and surrounding field of the triangle are richly adorned with incuse hieroglyphic inscriptions and Egyptian symbols, with the name TUTANKHAMUN rendered partly in hieroglyphs at the apex and in Latin characters — ANK to the lower left and AMUN to the lower right — referencing the pharaoh's full cartouche name. |
