Gibraltar's commemorative crown program in the late 1990s and early 2000s was prolific to the point of exhaustion — the territory issued dozens of themed proof strikes annually, targeting the collector market rather than circulation. This piece is a product of that strategy, which the Pobjoy Mint handled for Gibraltar across much of this period.
