Reverse description Central high-relief group depicting Queen Victoria, diademed and wearing a crown, seated alongside Prince Albert, with several of their children gathered around them in an informal family scene referencing the year 1846. The composition is flanked by laurel branches and surmounted by the arc legend THE VICTORIAN AGE, with the date 1846 inscribed to the left of the central group. Below the figures, a cartouche bears the inscription THE ROYAL FAMILY, beneath which the numeral 1 appears within a decorative frame, and the denomination CROWN is lettered along the lower arc. The design is enclosed by a plain border.

Additional information

Gibraltar's commemorative crown program in the early 2000s was prolific to the point of exhaustion — the territory issued dozens of collector-targeted pieces annually, most with negligible circulation. This piece belongs to that wave, produced for the collector market rather than everyday use.
