| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace, rendered in refined relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left rim, while GIBRALTAR and the date 1997 arc along the upper and lower right, all in Latin script. The portrait is consistent with the mature Raphael Maklouf effigy used on Gibraltar coinage of this period. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
