Gibraltar's Crown issues of this period were produced largely by the Pobjoy Mint under licensing arrangements, with rose gold plating introduced as a low-cost variant to capture collector demand without committing to solid bullion production. Churchill crowns have been issued and reissued across dozens of Commonwealth jurisdictions since his death in 1965 — Gibraltar among the most prolific — making KM#1545b one of several metallic variants of the same basic type struck for the 50th anniversary of his death.
