| Obverse description | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, depicted as an uncouped bust adorned with the George IV State Diadem, as designed by Robert Doyle Makeig-Jones. The peripheral legend reads ELIZABETH II ISLE OF MAN, with the date 2000 and the mint initials RDM PM completing the inscription. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a flat field, consistent with the Pobjoy Mint's standard obverse treatment for Isle of Man coinage of this era. |

The Isle of Man's annual cat crown series, running since 1988, systematically rotated breeds each year and became one of the few modern bullion-adjacent programs to generate genuine secondary-market demand based on subject matter rather than metal content alone. The Scottish Fold was selected for the 2000 issue — a breed whose signature ear mutation traces to a single barn cat named Susie, found in Perthshire in 1961.
The .9999 fineness puts this above the more common .999 standard, a specification the Pobjoy Mint adopted selectively for gold issues in this series.
